Anawangin escapade Day 1

Just last November we had our 5th College Trip. Instead of going on the usual places like in Batangas or Laguna, we dared to take the latest trip on a higher level. We chose Zambales! Yipee Mindanao here we come! Oh! wait Zambales is in Luzon, shoot!

We are all set for a 3-day and 2 nights adventure. We checked our bags...

Our group is divided into two batches as some have still work during Saturdays. Me and Panyet are on Batch 1 who are scheduled to depart in dawn of November 27. We met with our college friends in the Victory Liner bus station in Pasay @4:30am. The fare was 267 pesos if i still recall and we left about 5am. We travelled through North Expressway (NLEX) we passed through Pampanga and Olongapo.

We arrived at Pundaquit, Zambales around 10am. Our bunch bought rice, gas and some more foods in the wet market. We then boarded a tricycle to reach the shores where we will ride a "bangka" (small boats) into the island of Anawangin. We paid 25 pesos each for the tricycle. It took us only 15 minutes to reach the shores and another 30 minutes for the "bangka" ride. Each of us paid 300 pesos for the "bangka". That payment covers the transportation to and from the island as well as the Island hopping in the LightHouse.

The leftmost side of the island.

We finally reached the shores at exactly 12 noon. We can say that Anawangin island is a good place for adventure. The island is still untouched by modern technology. No electricity, the water is thru "poso"(a dug out well that lets you pump water from underground), we sleep using tents there are no cottages that can be rented but they offer "papags"(a bed made out of bamboo) where you can put your foods and dine.

Our tents lined up.

We then ate lunch and rested for a while before we setup our tents. Panyet and I shared tents with one of our friends. The rest of the afternoon was spent sleeping. We woke up when the sun was setting. We prepared foods for dinner, chatted, some went to the shores while others prefer to rest again. Well the adventure is still to start so better save up my energy.
